Welcome to Trailbound Hounds, Calgary’s premier dog walking and pet care service! I’m Jo, the founder and heart behind this business, and I’m thrilled to share my passion for dogs with you. As of summer 2024, I’m celebrating 20 years in the dog walking industry, with a lifetime of experience in the pet world. My love for animals began as a child, caring for neighbors’ dogs and marveling at their unique personalities. While my family didn’t have dogs or cats until later, I nurtured small animals and dreamed of working with pets.

Initially, I aimed to become a veterinarian, but after three years working in a vet clinic post-high school, I realized it wasn’t my calling. Those years taught me invaluable lessons about animal care, which I built upon through roles in pet stores and doggie daycares, where I assisted trainers and deepened my understanding of dog behavior. Inspired to create something of my own, I launched Trailbound Hounds after completing a small business course and attending numerous seminars on dog behavior and pet first aid.

Over the past two decades, I’ve worked with dogs of all personalities, helping many overcome fears and build confidence. Today, I focus on group walks, leading happy pups through Calgary’s beautiful parks like Edworthy, River Park and Clearwater. My trusty sidekick, Kane, often joins me, making every walk an adventure. My experience and passion ensure every dog in my care enjoys safe, tailored, and fun outings.

Outside of work, I stay active with workouts, ball hockey, and solo walks with Kane. I feel incredibly lucky to have a career that’s both rewarding and joyful. At Trailbound Hounds, our mission is to keep Calgary’s dogs happy, healthy, and active, one tail-wagging walk at a time.
